This year our shoebox appeal was back and bigger than ever! We collaborated with St luke’s school who amazingly donated over 50 boxes. Together we decorated and filled a whopping 75 shoeboxes!

We continued to support charities in Exeter who provide safe and supportive environment for young people experiencing homelessness. As well as supporting our last years charity The Esther Community, we also donated to Bethany house and The Foyer.

This year the young people used brown paper to make the boxes recyclable. They spent weeks decorating and filling the boxes with toiletries, hats, gloves, chocolate, sweets, games and other fun things!

Young people in all our open access sessions spent time wrapping and decorating the boxes, whilst Juniors took a lead on donating and making sure all the boxes were filled equally.

Members of staff from the charities came to collect the shoeboxes on our last juniors session before Christmas. Young people enjoyed the opportunity to find out more about the charities and ask any questions that they had.

A huge thank you to all the young people and staff at St Lukes school, we are looking forwards to next year’s shoebox appeal already!

[If you have any unwanted Christmas gifts that you feel would benefit a young person experiencing homelessness next Christmas, we are gratefully accepting donations all year at the 100 Club, Exeter.]
