Following a refurb and rebrand, Poundstore reopened this week and offered a trolley dash to a local charity. They approached Bideford Town Council to advise on who should benefit. Our Mayor, Dermot McGeough, strongly suggested we should be chosen – Thanks!

Four of our young volunteers met me on Tues morning, we were shown around the store and Mia and Chaz were given 100 seconds to fill a trolley. They all agreed to focus on “the important stuff” –  deodorant, tampons and pads, art materials, batteries and then sweets.
Everyone shouted out the count and  as you can see from the videos it went a bit pear-shaped and we got some unusual items added too. Both young people said their brains froze and it was hilarious. The mayor then cut the ribbon to open the store to the long line of people waiting outside and thanked Poundstore for chosing Space as their good cause.

The young people then walked the trolley through town and straight into the youth centre lift, into the arts room and sorted and packed it all away – eating a few sweets as they went.
Big thanks to Poundstore and Dermot for their support!
