support & resources
We have a comprehensive and flexible range of support options for youth groups, volunteer youth workers and anyone seeking to start a group working with young people in Devon.
We aim to help communities create and sustain a wide range of clubs and groups that can meet the needs of local young people.
Direct Support– we can provide support for a specific piece of work, or we can help you to lead sessions and plan programmes, working alongside your staff or volunteers for a defined time period.
Practical Resources- We have developed a set of basic tools to help organise, plan and deliver a wide variety of youth work. These are available to download and modify for your own use.
Policies and Paperwork- Working with our partners at VOYC Devon we can help establish robust and sound policies and working practices for your club.
Training- We can provide access to a wide range of certified training through our partnership with VOYC Devon at a reduced rate for VOYC members.
Networking, Collaborations and Partnerships- In this ever changing and fast paced world the demands on our time are great and our days are filled with challenges. A long term sustainable model that works could be the formation of a local youth partnership or network of mutual support in your area.
Public events- Local events are a great way to raise the profile of your youth club, by meeting people face to face you can show your passion and commitment to your club and the young people you support. Your community youth work team has much experience in this area and can support you at a local event or support you to hold your own event.
We have a bespoke youth work skills and induction package available, which can be delivered local to you and at no charge. Follow the link to the VIP Package at the bottom of the page.
We hope to support you to gain the skills and confidence to engage with the young people of your community and have fun in the process!
All of our support starts with a phone call. Once we have a better understanding of what you need we can then work within our team and connect with colleagues in VOYC to see who is best placed to assist you.
Here are a range of forms and tools that could help your group develop and log their work with young people. If you are searching for specific policies, please contact your community team worker direct or VOYC so we can help you create a robust and effective policy for your group.
“Personally I found the evening very helpful. Seeing how you dealt with lack of respect of equipment from some members and advising us volunteers about structuring the evening and how we should interact with members.
I know from talking to some of the other volunteers we all found it very helpful and it has given us more confidence to deal effectively with challenging behaviour. We look forward to working with you in the coming weeks”
” I would like to thank your Youth Worker for her support in a very difficult intimidating situation. She went above and beyond her job role to support me with this. She has built up a good relationship with me and the club I work for, her support has been invaluable. She has offered support with running sessions, training, signposting, activities and general enquiries or queries about correct procedures. A service well needed in my opinion. Thanks again!”
“A big thank you to space* for confirming that what we want to do is feasible and for all the helpful information about support and funding”
