On the 12th and 13th of October 2019, Space hosted another AYCH creative jam, this one at The Hive youth centre in Exmouth. Young People from Tiverton, Exeter and Exmouth youth centre attended, as well as students from Exmouth Community College. There were also many professionals and guests there, such as our french students from Design school and even the Exmouth mayor and town crier.
The first day started with introductions and getting to know the project and the plan for the next two days. Then continued after lunch with two sets of workshops, the first set was technology-based and consisted of 3D Printing, Film making, Virtual reality and Coding. The second set was industry talks which included; Design thinking, Media marketing, product design and business modelling. These were all ran by leading professionals and were incredibly informative and inspiring.
The second day the young people got into groups and began to discuss ideas to ‘make their town better’. They then had 5 hours to research, and, with the help of the experts around the room, make a prototype for their ideas. They then had to present these ideas back to professionals from various companies such as propeller Exmouth, Devon Libraries.
